Can 3003 aluminum plate replace 3A21 aluminum plate?

If you want to know whether an aluminum plate can be used with other aluminum-alloyed aluminum plates, you need to discuss two physical and chemical properties. The physical properties are mainly reflected in the mechanical properties, while the chemical properties mainly depend on the composition of the aluminum alloy.
Now Huawei Aluminum compares a 3003 aluminum plate and a 3A21 aluminum plate in terms of chemical composition and mechanical properties.

First of all, let’s take a look at the main chemical composition indicators of 3A21 aluminum plate and 3003 aluminum plate (the composition is shown in Table 1)

From the composition table above, we can easily find that, except for other impurities, the composition requirement range of 3003 is narrower and included in the composition range of 3A12. I will analyze the Mg content again. Although 3A21 has requirements for Mg content and 3003 has no requirements for Mg, 3003 has requirements for the single content of impurities, and the requirements for 3A21 are the same, both are 0.05. It is precisely because 3003 does not have requirements on the Mg content, so the sum of other impurities in 3003 is 0.05 higher than that of 3A21. In other words, after deducting the influence of Mg content, the sum of other impurities in 3A21 and 3003 is the same as 0.10. Out: In terms of chemical composition, aluminum alloys that can meet the requirements of 3003 must also meet the requirements of 3A21.

From Table 2 and Table 3, it is not difficult to see that the range of mechanical property requirements of 3003 is narrower than that of 3A21, except for individual aluminum foil grades (above 0.5mm), the mechanical property requirements of 3003 from the aluminum plate level are included in 3A21. That is, the mechanical properties of 3003 are higher than that of 3A21. In other words, the aluminum plate that can meet the requirements of 3003 in terms of mechanical properties must also meet the requirements of 3A21.

Through the analysis of the chemical composition and mechanical properties above, the 3003 aluminum plate can completely replace the 3A21 aluminum plate. It is precisely because of this fact that the 3-series aluminum plate that most aluminum plate and aluminum strip manufacturers usually stock is 3003. With the above analysis, we can boldly replace it with 3003 aluminum plates when we encounter a shortage of 3A21 aluminum plates in the future.
